New school year here we come

Sometimes I quite enjoy a new term, the anticipation of what's to come, a fresh start. This year I really have not felt ready. I've kind of felt on the back foot all Summer. I was always packing the morning of leaving to go somewhere mainly because the laundry was not done. I think we are all still adjusting to me returning to work after maternity leave.

It comes though whether I'm ready or not. We were challenged at church last week to let go of something and I wrote 'my can't do attitude' My inner critic is pretty strong, apparently according to my husband sometimes I am even putting myself down in my sleep! That can't be very helpful. I'm going to quote the over quoted verse of Philippians 4v13 'I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me' but this is powerful when you realise if you lean on Christ you really can do all things. I can keep my head when I'm frantically trying to find 2 socks in the laundry mountain.

I was chatting to a friend recently and she gave me a lovely encouragement. She has been through some very tough times and she said 'The foundation my parents laid as a child carried me through' We have so much influence in our children's lives. Discipling our kids is so important and you never know when those foundations will be needed. It encouraged me to find that extra ounce of patience, pray a bit harder for my children. It's all worth it.
