Tribute to a wonderful cheerleader

December is always a bit crazy but this one has felt especially so. We’ve had car trouble, usual winter bugs, all the Christmas shows and school events to keep up with, a work project that was meant to be finished in October, Christmas shopping ...

In the middle of it all we sadly lost Tim’s Nana. The children’s ‘Great Nana’.

There are some people that no matter what they always want the best for you, they root for you and cheer you on. She was one of those people. She was such a remarkable lady. We visited her in Cornwall every Summer and she loved seeing the children.

She loved seeing pictures of the children and even at 96 had mastered emailing on her kindle so that’s how I kept in touch. She was always so interested in every detail of our lives and was so encouraging. She really remembered what it is like to have young children and was always complimenting us on how we parented which was so appreciated!

At the start of the year we chose a bible verse to focus on and it was 1 Thessalonians 5v11

“So encourage each other and build each other up.”

She definitely did that and we will miss her a lot. So perhaps my takeaway from these last few weeks is be grateful for the cheerleaders in our lives and never underestimate the impact of a kind comment and showing an interest in others.
