No Condemnation

Updated: Sep 19, 2022

I had a horrible experience recently where a man shouted at me for a parenting call I made and made me feel like I was a rubbish mum. The whole experience floored me. I couldn’t think straight and didn’t want anyone to know what had happened in case they thought I was an awful mother too. It kept going round and round in my head.

I was on the way to Christian festival, New Wine and thankfully I was able to go to the pastoral prayer tent. A lovely lady prayed for me. She took me back to the situation and asked me to imagine Jesus walking into the scene and see what does he do. He put his arm around me. There’s no condemnation with Jesus! I find that parents often get comments or just out right criticism and its too easy to take unhelpful things on board. As I walked out of the prayer room we drew a line to walk over so I could leave the situation behind me. It was such a relief!

When faced with undue criticism or a situation gone wrong that won’t leave my head I find 2 Corinthians 10v5 helpful “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” Taking those thoughts and submitting them to Christ.
